This design offers classic good looks combined with solid seagoing capabilities.
Eagle's clean hull form is relatively narrow for its length. Keeping the L/B ratio reasonable
lowers resistance and improves behavior in open water. The relatively symmetrical waterlines
help to maintain balance when heeled, resulting in a light helm that's ideal for autopilot
control. The separated keel and rudder is a well-proven concept that provides good tracking
with reduced resistance. Designed for long-distance passagemaking, this yacht provides
ample water and fuel reserves and has the payload capacity necessary to carry all of the
extra gear that cruising boats tend to accumulate.
Eagle's rig is designed to be solid and
dependable, with a high factor of safety. Sail area has been calculated to provide good light
air performance without the need to reef early in higher winds. All control lines lead to
the cockpit for ease of handling and safety. Boats in this size range have the interior
volume needed to deliver all the comforts that the modern sailor has come to expect
in a larger design. The arrangement shown is only one possibility; other arrangements are
available on request. The builder has his choice of cored fiberglass, C-flex or wood
strip-plank construction. Just give us your preference at time of order and we
will customize your plan set for your chosen building method.
