This design is the result of the many requests we've received for a slightly larger version of the very popular K-16.
The 19's hull lines are not just a stretched version of the 16 but have been drawn from scratch to take full advantage
of the greater sailing length and stability provided by the larger hull. The waterlines forward have been narrowed
and topsides flare has been increased to keep the waterline beam and wetted surface numbers relatively low for improved
performance both upwind and in light air.
K-19's sailplan features the same single spreader swept-back design that's found on most high-performance sport
boats today. This configuration provides the needed fine control of sail shape without undo rigging complications
and has been proven to be very effective. The keel-stepped aluminum mast fits through a deck slot and is held
in place with removable partners to provide for quick setup and adjustment, specifications for an optional deck-stepped mast
and a reduced area rig are also included in the plan set.
Construction consists of 1/2" cedar strip planking with glass sheathing. Marine plywood is used for the decks and bulkheads.
The detailed plan set includes full-size patterns for all construction molds, stem profile and foils.
The molds are keyed to the ladder frame making construction setup quick and accurate. All measurements
and offsets are given in both imperial and metric units.
This is a fast and elegant design that will be sure to please today's performance
oriented sailor.
