The first in a series of medium and long-range cruising powerboats, the Northwest 40
offers an interesting combination of speed and range in a comfortable cruising package.
The interior arrangement offers two double berths, a large forward v and a convertable
double in the pilothouse. The main saloon features a complete galley with a full-size
refrigerator, tons of locker space and a comfortable bathroom with separate walk-in
shower.
The engine room holds a 6 kW genset, 18 gal. water heater and a large battery bank.
Power is provided by twin Yanmar 170 HP diesel engines that will drive this design to
a top speed of 24 knots. Throttled back to a comfortable and economical cruising speed
of 16 knots, the Northwest 40 will deliver a range of 1000 nautical miles.
The 40's medium deadrise, single-chine hull delivers excellent speed without
compromising it's ability to cope in rough conditions. Primarily designed for aluminum
construction, conversion plans are also available for traditional molded plywood on
frame construction. Please state your preferance at time of order.
